Brother Edward Shivell has been appointed the new prior of Mepkin Abbey

After a consultation process with the Mepkin Community, Abbot Stan appointed Brother Edward Shivell the new prior of Mepkin Abbey.  Fr. Stan announced the appointment at a Chapter meeting and the brothers responded with a spontaneous round of applause.

Having entered in 1953, come to Mepkin in 1955, and having served in a number of capacities over the years, Brother Edward is one of the two brothers who keeps us well fed. With a rich singing voice he contributes to our liturgy as a cantor and in the schola. His own life of prayer and charity is a great blessing to us and will be to all who will now know him as our prior.
