LE CHEMIN DE LA CROIX

Stations of the Cross by Marcel Dupre

Organist: Abbot Francis Kline, OCSO

Reader: Catherine Combier Donovan

Recorded at the Cathedral of St.John the Baptist, Charleston, SC on May 25th and June 2nd, 1997.

A double CD  (about 90 minutes) with exquisite brochure of commentary including the complete translation of the text of Paul Claudel.

The fourteen great poems by Paul Claudel on the Stations of the Cross are read in English and after each is played a musical commentary of Marcel Dupre by Abbot Francis.   A monumental work that was a highlight of the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC in 1997.  Ellen Dressler-Moryl, the Director of the Office of Cultural Affairs for the Cisty of Charleston deserves lasting gratitude for the vision to have this piece performed and the stamina to see its final production in Compact Disk.
